Hunted Blount Co. this a.m. and Cullman this afternoon. Wind never laid down! Felt like I was on a boat swaying back and forth. Saw a couple of does in Blount about 7:30 a.m. nothing in Cullman.
NOW is the time for all GOOD men to come to the aid of their country.

I saw 7 today and my wife saw 5 all does and yearlings except one spike. I killed a doe this afternoon.
Would walk over a naked woman to get to a gobblin turkey!

Started out kinda slow.......then a little before 5:00, they started coming in! Wound up with 4 does/fawns, 3 spikes, 7 pt and 2 8 pts in the field. I went ahead and took this 7pt before it got too dark to shoot. Good way to start the Season!

Nothing this morning, saw some does, fawns and a spike this afternoon. Gave a bobcat a rage piercing.
Anything worth doing, is worth doing right, or it's not worth doing at all!

Congrats, everybody!!!
I underestimated my buck a little...his spread is 16.5" inside and he weighed 206 lbs! By far, my heaviest buck to date (I'm thinking he's older than 3 now)...I'm still on cloud 9!!!

Great deer Audeerhunter! You deserved that one! Love hearing your LFTT's. That sucker had a heck of a body and pretty rack too. Congrats on a great kill! Thanks, everybody!!! It's been a great season already! If I can kill a deer (doe or buck) with a bow and a good buck with a gun, I'm very satisfied. It's opening day of gun season and I've already done both!!! I'm happy, happy, happy! I'll post some better pictures and the story of my buck tomorrow; I'm worn out!

my little honey hole,it gets really right in this spot in January. Have saw over 30 in one afternoon during the rut from this spot. So far, they always come from the top and feed down in the evening...except today when I had one of the good ones slip somehow behind me at 30 yards. Saw him for about 2 seconds as he went over the side of the mountain and down toward the fields.
