My mother bought this Rem 742 Woodmaster carbine along with the Redfield for my father for their 1st wedding anniversary. I recently got the gun and put the old Redfield back on it. We lost my mom at 53 a couple years ago. She was diagnosed with cancer on opening day of deer season. I took my first deer with this exact setup in 84' and look very much forward to sitting on green fields this season sharing stories with them about their Nana.

Im sure there are similar stories out there...what you got?

Custom made .25-06 given to me by my dad, that he had for 30+ years. It has a piece of crap scope but is a real tack driver. I've killed one deer with it.

Rem 700 270. Given to me several years ago by my late Grandpa. He paid about $400 for it then but now its priceless.

I shoot the same exact rifle to this day. it was bought for me when i was 12 years old by my dad and the only rifle ive hunted with.

old Marlin 30-30 my granddaddy gave me, as long as I could remember he told me that as soon as I could sling it over my shoulder and the butt not touch the ground it was mine. He gave it to me before my 1st hunting trip the the club with my dad in 1983. My dad bought a Bushnell scope from a guy in the club for 25 dollars and it still shoots true. Wow, just realized its been with me for 30 years now, I think I'll pull the old girl out this year and take her for a spin.

Marlin 30.30 that the US Army gave my grandfather when he retired in 71. Put a scope on it. My shot dropped a big doe with it Saturday afternoon. First time ever in the woods. Got on video also.

I have a 742 woodsmaster 308 carbine just like that too. I bought it for my wife in 1975. It still has a 4x40 tasco scope, but I removed the see thru mounts and the sights. It has put a lot of deer in the freezer.

.44 ruger carbine with an old weaver scope on it. My grandfather bought it and gave it to my dad. Daddy died in 1977. I doubt he ever killed a deer or even hunted them. I killed my first deer with it in 1983. My daughter killed her first with it last year. That makes her the 4th generation to own that gun.

I have two stories. One is a Remington Model 11 20 gauge bought in 1938 by my dad and a friend of his because they did not have enough money to get it by themselves. My dad ended up with it and I have had it rebuilt. If I had a dime for every quail they gun has brought to the table I would richer than Bill Gates. The other is a Fox 410 double barrel my dad bought me when I was 13 and I still have it. As much as I need the money I would almost rather die than give them up.

My granddaddy's 1918 Model 12 Winchester. He bought it new with his first paycheck when he went to work for the Southern RR in 1919 at the age of 16. I think it and a box of shells was about $20 bucks. It has the 3rd barrel on it and it's a full but is "shot out" and is larger than an improved. I'll give Mr. Robert's model 12 to my son, who he is named after .

My dad got me a beretta for Christmas when I was a kid. I wanted a rem 1100 cause that was what dad had. I saw the box and complained that I did not want a boogaloo. I couldn't pronounce beretta! Dad still brings it up when I get the ol 302a out.

I have a 742 jammaster in 30-06 that my grandfather bought new in I believe was 68.I have killed so many deer with it that I have lost count.Many a box of shells have gone through her and she still hasnt lived up to the models reputation.The gun fits me so well and is so natural that I honestly dont remember aiming at the last several deer I have killed with it.

I wanted to post this one all by itself.I have a Winchester model 12 that is very unique.The first year that Ford came out with the Ranger p.u they gave you a mod.12 with the gun.It has a bronze emblem in the side of the butt with the year and a stamp of a ranger on it.My uncle-his name was Dennis Tucker-was a salesman at Long-Lewis Ford in Bessemer gave me one.He committed suicide in 87 and I inherited the gun.It was not the suicide weapon.I was very close to the man he is the one who raised me until my dad got home from Nam.This gun is very unique and rare and will never be sold.
