There may have been some misunderstanding in my post. I have my own property that I hunt deer on. I quail hunt off of my property simply because we have no birds. I run my dog on quail preserves and WMA's. IF my dog was shot on one of those scenarios, I would not care who owned the land. That said with my land if I see a dog I try to locate the owner. If I see I cow, I find the farmer and help him get the cow back in and mend the fence so it won't get back out. Honestly, how many times has your hunt been ruined by a dog? ZERO for me.
Your last quote is very telling� and it's probable that you'll never understand the guy who continually faces this problem on his own property. Years ago, I hunted an area of a county where people continually threw out stray pups. If left alone, a stray would eventually pack up with another stray� and they would pack up with another stray, etc. On a regular basis, we'd see 3-4 dogs chasing deer, rabbit, and anything else that presented a meal to them. On top of that, a neighbor who owned five acres of land next to our 150 acres had his own pack of dogs that he allowed to roam anywhere - and some would be vicious. Given that environment I wonder how some of our "it's wrong to shoot dogs" folks would react.
