Lol� I live in Tuscaloosa County also and deal with them on our hunting land. Two things� spray bottoms of pants legs/boots with something containing deet and it will help (don't forget beltlines and shirtlines also) and if you get bit, use some Cool Mint Listerine to sooth the itch. Don't know what it is in that type of Listerine (other flavors don't work), but it's the ONLY thing I've ever used that killed the itch. Will say this� I turkey hunting in Western Kentucky last year and got covered over by ticks. I'd much rather deal with chiggers here in AL than the ticks up in KY� they were a beast!
