I agree with that shootnmiss. That is the way it should be no matter if it's a kids pet or not. I explained to my kids when they were young that if our pet dog ran off then it could be shot by the neighbors so we must keep it home and train it and take care of it. I have the same agreement with my neighbors and they with me and we get along good and always will I'm sure. I would not get mad at them for shooting my dog if it was roaming around. I would not attempt to whoop their butt nor call the law like some I read on here say they would. Dogs should not roam around.
I usually don't get in these pissing matches, but unfortunately I down have, So all my hunting dogs stay in pens year around except when they are being hunted. I lost a fine rabbit dog, because a guy thought it was spooking his deer when he dug out of the pen. All he had to do was call the number on the collar. My black lab runs loose and stays on my property. I understand when every time i turn my dogs loose I am running a chance of them being shot or run over, but dang man, most collars have names on them just call the number and the people will come get the dog. Now If its the same ole dog club screwing you up, yea I see the frustration, BUT I swear it like when rifle season comes in, people don't think your allowed to run rabbit dogs.
WHY does all dog hunters get put in the same class of people? Take me I bow hunt, still hunt with a rifle, rabbit hunt with beagles, and deer hunt with basset hounds, jack russels, and bigger dogs also, but that don't make me scum. The guys that I dog hunt deer with we all do everything we can do to keep dogs on our 1200 acres that we hunt on. I am done with this thread but I guess all I can say, What you do today, you have to sleep with tonight, so if y'all happy with it I am happy with it.
