When I pay $2500 a year to hunt, and I'm in the middle of my 950 acres and a mongrel comes through ruining my hunt. I think about shooting him. I really do. I never have though. Could be a kids pet. That's what I tell myself. Now my hunting partner, he will drop em in their tracks. Last year we had a MAJOR problem with this Pit Bull. We even went to the owner twice about it. He told us it was a free country. Wrong answer!!! My buddy , in all his infinite wisdom. Shot the dog in the head , wrapped the corpse in a burlap bag, wired a note to the bag that said "FREE COUNTRY DEAD DOG" and dropped the dog off at the owners mailbox about midnight. Needless to say , the following weekend we got a visit from the Co Sherriff. The officer said they couldn't prove anything , but I'm sure if the owner really wanted to push it he would have gotten in a world of trouble. I told him if he ever shot another dog , I would personally turn him in.
