I live in the country, I own 76 acres, my father in law owns another 20 or so next to me, guy across the road has 150 or so. Neighbors up the road have smaller pieces. We all see one another dogs from time. All hunt and help each other out when we need it.
If our dogs bother one another we go to the person. My neighbors dog got after my chickens, I didn't kill it we told him and it didn't happen again.
This is how it was 40 years ago around here also. people looked out for one another. If they had a problem with a dog they didn't kill it they went to the owner.
