As a responsible dog owner/hunter.....
I would like to ask you to PLEASE keep your pets under control and do not allow them to roam freely on other's property!
I spend THOUSANDS of dollars to track and control my hunting dogs. And, I hunt responsibly on properties that are large enough to allow my dogs to hunt and run legally. In my experience, responsible dog hunters are NOT a problem. It is the constant battle with free-ranging dogs and feral strays that seems to push people over the edge. Unfortunatley, the frustration causes people to lump all dogs/dog activities into one big group.

This is coming from someone that lost a lab that I let run free, ON 40 acres! Everyone on our road knew and loved him. There was a few times that we got calls from people that lived miles from us, telling us they had our dog, but not one single complaint. My dad and I loved that dog, probably too much. Dad told me we needed to get him cut and build a pen. My dumb arse was against both and it ended up costing all of us. I don't know what happened to him. He may be old and gray, living at somebody's house, hit by a car, shot etc. etc. I still miss him, and that was almost 10 years ago. What I do realize now though is this, if he was shot, stolen, hit, whatever, ITS MY FAULT. He woulda never growled at anyone, but what he would have done is climb up on their female and cost them heartache and probably $. Regardless of what happened, I COULD HAVE PREVENTED IT.
Wud, I'm sorry for what happened to your dog, but just know from here on out, whatever happens off you're property, you could've prevented. That's just the truth man. I hope you make the right choice about your dog.
I'm not even responding to the OP, he needs to be cut from the gene pool himself I think.
