Deerchop, if it's a Winchester, it could be a mdl. 1890, mdl. '06, mdl. 62 or 62a. All were cambered in .22 short for 'Gallery' guns.
The mdl. 62 has 10 fore grip rings and the (beginning during WW II) 62a has 17.
Most mdl. 1890 Winchesters have octagonal barrels.
Thee 1906 is a fairly small rifle w/a round barrel...and had stained, fruit wood stocks.
There was also a mdl. 61 Winchester pump in .22 short.
Just a guess...but you probably have a mdl. 1890 Winchester.
They're all great little pump action .22 rifles. Most are John Browning designs.
Some experts claim a true 'Gallery Rifle' had an attachment ring for a chain and elevation adjustable rear sights. Personally, I think it was up to the individual Gallery owners.
