What is the best way to hunt pressured whitetails in Alabama? I have a small piece of land of about 160 acres with several surrounding hunting clubs, and just cant seam to see deer consistantly after bow season. Any suggestions would be great....

You can do like everyone else,wait for the rut ! If your property is thick and you provide year round food plots
the deer will stay on your property. I always bowhunt ed on my lease till the rut. It helps alot, or it did for me.All they need is water,cover and food.

Outside of not hunting it till jan your best bet is to keep intrusion to a minimum. This means no in season scouting and only hunting the edges.

I would start with the thickest area on the property and find some sign where they are coming out of it. Hang a stand and hunt when the wind is favorable. (It may swirl every 5 minutes some days) Hunt the place very few times a year. Three or four times with good scouting will produce usually. The main thing this time of year is to hunt a predominant wind direction, don't overhunt an area, and sit still. A lot of the deer are nocturnal and when they do move in legal shooting time, they will stop and smell the air for minutes and can be very nervous, especially anything over 2.5 years old. I watched some the other day in the bottom of a hollow look like statues because they were so nervous and wanted to check things out before moving into a feeding area. Good luck.

What I've had success doing is going into the thick young planted pines where I know the deer are moving through. I cut shooting lanes, and get a good set up with either a tree for a stand to watch, or a tripod. Hunting those thick pines is a great way to see deer in high pressure areas.
