It is really up to you and whoever you hunt with. If the deer fits the criteria that has been set for bucks killed on this property and you will be happy with the kill then go for it.

Depends on the date. IF I am bowhunting, then I am watching a lighted nock all the way to his boiler room. BUT if I am gun hunting then I would give him a pass and have high hopes for the next season.

Yep. Look at how small his head looks compared to his body. He's seen a few winters in his day.

I'd shoot him if I had a chance, that's because I'm itching to get my first deer though...

I had a similar situation last season. A nice deer with a good side and the other side with a long brow tine. You could see where the other part of the rack broke off so I decided he would get a pass. Unfortunately I haven't got any pics of him since last season, so who knows what happened to him. But with this particular deer I would probly give a pass as well. His rack will be normal next year imo tho.

I collect Native American artifacts, fossils, antique hand tools, odd shaped wood; and shed or harvested antlers fall in that same category to some degree. I can specifically remember a single 4" Spike antler I found in a fresh scrape in Demopolis in March Turkey season in 1996. Spike sheds are rare finds for me. They all have their own story. This deer and his one-sided rack has a story for you already as well. Personally, I'd feel fortunate to shoot him, he's a trophy.

Do these pictures mean that this is more than likely genetics after all? Younger buck with same issue as deer in the original post....no horns on right side. I also got another pic of the original deer in first post. Makes me think its genetics after all. Just curious how others would interpret this.

first time pics of younger deer

new pics of original deer that started thread

I had decided to give this deer another year if I see him. I may change my mind.

I'd take him if you think he is at least 3.5. A bucks genetics when he is 3.5 is pretty much what he will ever be point wise.. I highly doubt he had similar injuries back to back years

Because dead deer tend to not come back next year with a bigger rack

Some people tend to not give a chit, which is perfectly legal. Just FYI. Not everyone cares about horn porn, and telling someone not to shoot it is dumb. I probably wouldn't shoot the deer, but I couldn't care less what anyone else would do.

Do you all think that seeing a different, younger buck, in the exact same area, with exact same issue( no horn on right side)means it is most likely genetics and not an injury?
