Me and the wife just got back from a stroll in the woods and like every good wife she decided we should check for ticks. None on her, but she found 1 normal deer tick that had not latched on yet under my arm. Then find about 9 super small ticks on the same arm, I'm assuming these were babies. Anyone know if these could carry Lyme disease? Do I have any reason to worry? I'm more concerned for her and the dog. These things are very hard to see.

A friend of ours daughter got in the seed ticks this year. She's six and I bet there were fifty on her she was covered. She got an antibiotic but had no issues.

The chance of lyme disease is very very slim in Al. I think there are only a few states where it is common

Lyme disease is basically unheard or in these parts. Rickettsia would be more common.

There are diseases other than lyme carried by ticks. Last year my son got a tick under his arm. He caught what the old people call tick fever and was very sick. He stayed in the hospital for a week running fever from 102 to 104. The doctors did know what to call it so they just called it tick disease. His kidneys were starting to shut down but luck and god pulled him through.

You'll be fine. I've averaged 4 to 5 ticks every time I've scouted this year ... latched on too. Been out scouting 10+ times

Ticks are nasty little suckers, the less you can have on you the better.

Call your primary physician and see if they will give you a round of doxycycline. I had Rocky Mountain last summer and it sucks. Two weeks of doxy cleared it up. Found one on me this summer and got some for precautionary measures, didn't get sick.

Lyme disease is unheard of and slim in these parts? Although this may be somewhat true, I have unfortunately had to watch the effects of this disease first hand. My father was bit two years ago and the doctors just brushed it off and treated him for rocky mountain spotted fever. I have been in the woods all my life and never once worried about ticks. After watching every aspect of my dad's life change after he was eventually diagnosed with Lyme I will never think about ticks the way I used to. Just giving a warning guys. I wouldn't want my worst enemy to go through what I've seen happen to my dad.

My wife got rocky mountain spotted fever back in April... she was pregnant and it caused her to have a miscarriage. If you get sick, just remember to tell the doctor to test for tick borne diseases. RMSF and Lyme's disease can both be really bad! And your wife should be really careful if she gets pregnant!

My father got Lyme from a tick in N. Alabama. Doing yard work... in town.

The doctors thought the same thing... Not Lyme. Took forever for them to diagnose it which made the whole situation a lot worse.

There is plenty of Lyme in Alabama. Don't believe anyone that tells you there isn't.
