No. I'm sure that there is A decent respectful dog hunter, somewhere in Alabama, that doesn't let HIS dogs roam all over 2 counties worth of other hunters lands. So wherever THAT guy is, I wouldn't want to impede on HIS right to hunt the way HE chooses. laugh

Hellllllllll no if you ban deer dogs then will be coon, squirrel, rabbit, and bird dogs. We have forced enough hunters out of the sport in the last 15 years. Many more and we will loose all hunting rights.

Thank You,I since a little sarcasm in your post but there are MANY respectful dog hunters out there. The thing I hate the most is the fact that a lot of people have had such bad experiences with dog hunters that they hate them all.

I'm not a dog hunter either. Just don't want to see us back up on anything in the outdoor world.

No, there are some tracts of land in Alabama that are large enough to dog hunt on without infringing on other hunters. One of them is in between Opp and Florala. Rayonier owns the land and there are a bunch of hunters that enjoy dog hunting on it.

No. Deer hounds don't bother me near as much as free ranging dogs. Deer hounds running thru your property every now and then doesn't really bother the deer that much, but wandering dogs, that cover literally every foot of your property, thats the ones i can't stand. It's not the dogs fault, its the owners, but it really pisses me off. If deer dog hunting is banned, whats next? Rabbit hunting with beagles? Bird hunting with bird dogs?

While we are on the subject, how many of you that said yes, would shoot a deer being run by a dog across your property? I know i would, but i said no.

No!

There should be a permit system in place based off of property size.

Every dog would have to have a serial # on the collar that is traceable to the club and owner. Dogs found without it would be carried to a shelter.

As far as banning....no , but better regulation of it yes like a minimum screage for dog hunting for deer and large fines for continued abuses of dogs getting off property.

No. Some of my best memories were running dogs. It was exciting and always eventful for me as a child. I loved to go because it made my dad get excited and that in turn got me excited. Once they stopped it in Fayette county, he pretty much quit hunting. May go once or twice a year. I also know what its like to have a piss poor club beside your land and run dogs accross you. I didnt care for that much, but that was one group.

Actually, I love dogs and dont hate dog hunters. It was only my attempt at a little satire. Most every thread here seems to convey the message that all dog hunters are sorry, low down, disrespectful, parasites. Groups dont usually get that kind of reputation by accident. I do believe that a disproportional number of dog hunters are not very diligent about respecting other hunters property boundaries though. I know that there are a lot of "good" doggers out there too. And the best way to beat a bad reputation is by proving that You don't deserve one. Outdoorsmen have enough infighting as it is. Adding fuel to the fire by repeatedly letting dogs roam across others lands,or stalk hunters shooting every canine that is seen on the property, is not helping any of us.

Stay on your own land......do what you want. Just don't expect adjacent landowners to agree with being shucks on.

NO... I Have alot of friends that run dogs and they try their best to keep their dogs off of private property, but with that being said dogs cannot read no tresspassing signs. They all use tracking collars on every dog so they can cut them off easier.

They will NOT go onto anyones land to retreive a dog unless the landowner calls.
They have all raised their kids dog hunting and also stand hunting and the kids are one of the main reasons they dog hunt. It is a great way to spend time with them without having to stay on them about sitting still and being quiet.

I know alot of dog hunters deliberatly turn loose on private land and have no respect for people or property but no way are they all like that. I bet most property owners have more trespassers still hunting than dogs and don't even know it.
