Enjoy it while it last??I haven't even started hunting seriously yet.  I saw the best one of the year yesterday at 2:20,spooked him out of his bed going in.He didn't bust out though,he just eased out not knowing what direction was safe to escape.To shorten this up,I had him at 25yds crosshairs on his neck,6 maybe 7 on his right and four on the left @ 17" goodtine lenght fair mass and I put the safety back on and let him go.  My reason:I was standing in a little swag,the buck was at the top and I knew the logging crew was 300yds out dead in line.  My youngest nephew was with me and all he could say was,Uncle shane you had him what happened? I told him,you gotta let em' grow sometimes.LOL Later I explained to him why.

Well guys, I stuck a big slickhead with the stick and string this evening but I hit a limb and hit her way back even though she was only 6 yards. I got down quietly and snuck out to let her lay overnight....going back in the morning to look for her. Ya'll wish me luck.

Well, I found her guys, but not before the yotes did. I have never seen yotes eat every OUNCE of meat off of a big doe in one night before, but they absolutely cleaned this one to where there was nothing left but a ribcage, head, and the legs. I hate a freakin yote!

I gotta lease where if you shoot one you better go that night to recover if you want the meat.Good job on the kill.

I've never been on a place with more coyotes in my life....they are thick out there. I knew it, but I just didn't have a choice than to let her lay after hitting her so far back. Sux!

I actually took one's throat out this morning,hit a limb and kicked the shot right a touch.I didn't figure she would go to far but I left her,my stepdad just called and said she went about 50yds. Still waiting on the big one's to come play.

Anyone else gonna be able to try em' tomorrow? My plan is to sit all day if the wind holds steady and see what happens.They cleared one end of my lease and now their at the other end,I am hoping to catch some slipping away from one end to the other.If my plans don't work it'll still be a great day in the woods.

Sad to report gents, but I missed a pretty good buck on Skyline Tuesday morning. They were way down the mountain below me and the lead doe was about to lead them straight off the mountain out of sight. He stopped to sniff around at the doe in the back and posed quartering to me in a decent opening and I squeezed one off at him. Best I can tell, I hit a piece of mountain laurel that was right in front of me (was on the ground up on the side of a bluff) and of course I never touched him. Oh well....I still feel like I'm just getting started so hopefully I'll get another chance.

Didn't make it yesterday morning,wind wasn't what I wanted sooo I slept in with my 2&4 yr old..Made it out yesterday evening saw one doe towards dark,she acted funny kept looking back fed look back so on for 10 minutes..Right before she turned I caught a glimpse of a bigger dark deer at the far edge and she followed right to it...It's gonna happen just gotta wait for it all to come together.

Well, I saw lots of deer today but didn't shoot any. Had 5 does come racinb by at 5 yards, but I was soooo far from the truck (over 1 mile - long way to drag a deer for a fat Claims Rep.) that I didn't shoot. My son and I were easing through some hardwoods and he jumped a nice 8 point - shot twice (using a slug gun) but didn't hit him. Won't be long til I hit on a hunt.

I'm gonna hit it hard tomorrow fella's,daylight till dark or blood!Tried before the storm this morning and saw 13 the first 30 minutes(headed to cover unlike me)and then I drip dried for 2 hrs.LOL Lots of scrapes and rubs since thursday,maybe the time is here for the big boy's to come play. I knocked down a nice size doe in TN last night for some summer sausage. I saw about 13 as well. They were moving good in the evening.

Well, it didn't happen this weekend. I did have opportunities at some does, but dang they were so skinny I could see their ribs. Not sure why that is. Anyway, maybe next weekend. Sorry guys.

Well ....I gave it all day without even a sighting! That is my first trip this season without a sighting so I can't complain.Ton's of scrapes,rubs,and more rut sign since the rain and there is still a month to hunt,Hang in there guy's!
