I have to disagree. A few years ago, I hunted in southern Arkansas with my friend Fred and his cousin Robert. Robert shot a very nice 8 pointer chasing a hot doe from a ladder stand. The next day, Robert shot another nice 8 pointer from the same stand, and was tagged out. The third day, Fred shot a monster 8 pointer with chocolate covered antlers from the same ladder stand. Being the good friend he is, Fred insisted that I hunt that same stand and I shot a beautiful 10 pointer. Four days, four trophy deer, all from the same stand.

You may never have that happen again in a lifetime of hunting.

Yep, you're in a smokin' hot spot when the rut is rockin' with a good buck population, man might kill 4 in the same day. shocked

if you are hunting a stand and kill a buck tending a hot doe......do you hunt that stand the next morning or let it rest????

I've killed one of two bucks with a doe. A friend helped me haul him out of the hollow, so I told him that the best one was still tending the doe and to go after him since he helped me do all that work.

He let his daughter in law kill the other one the next morning still tending the doe around the same spot. She said there was another buck there too, and wasn't sure she got the biggest one.

It all depends on many factors on whether it does or not. Like 49er referred to though in the hot doe situation that stand is the to be in as long as that doe stays in that area for sure.

mistake if a hot doe is there, another buck will be right along.

Never make the mistake of NOT hunting a hot doe no matter what happened the day before.

I killed a good buck off Grants Mill Road near Leeds once that some outlaws I know saw chasing a hot doe one afternoon. Word got to me and I called the guy up and asked exactly where. At first he told me no way but finally told me right where. Next morning I killed that buck 150 yards from where he saw it...tending a hot doe. ALWAYS hunt a hot doe....

I knew where you were going with this and get yer point. However, if I shoot a buck, many times the big one in that area is dead, time to move on. I like to hunt specific bucks in several areas. If I kill the one I think is the stud on a ridge, the stud over on the other ridge better turn on his A game.

I am a firm believer that over hunting a stand is far more damaging than killing a deer out of one and hunting it again when conditions are right. I killed 7 does in four hunts, 5 in bow season, from one stand. I only hunted there four times.

More than once I know of multiple mature deer coming from the same stand or field if hunted when conditions are favorable. I've done it a few times on really nice bucks.

Several years back when I was in high school it snowed and I stayed home. My dad killed an 8 point in my spot. Made me wish i would have went. I ended up killing an 8pt in the same spot a little later. Some spots are good for a reason, killing one or even more deer doesn't necessarily change that.

I've had hot does bring bucks to me on more than one occasion while stalking through the woods. I'm convinced the doe heard me and though I was another buck coming in to check her out.

That's only happened when more than one buck was with the doe. The better buck always seems to linger behind just out of good shooting conditions while the younger buck comes right on in for a clear shot behind the doe. It's like the big ones know they have a decision to either give up their pride and take a chance on the less dominant buck getting a piece of tail or get blown away trying to keep it all for themselves.

I've had the does come right up to within just a few yards of me and stop and wait. They had to be thinking I was another buck joining the party.

That's some real fun right there.

Eddie, I've rattled up does several times with the buck following behind her. Almost like the doe brought the buck following here to a fight to get rid of him. Kinda like some girls I've known of....

I missed an old 8 point last year and tore the woods up trying to find it, the very next day I saw a buck the same size from the same stand. Later that week I killed a 6 point out of it. So no I don't believe you can over hunt a stand.
