Not sure...agree on mange. That looks strange and you can possibly see bloody spots on the skin. Hate to see her in that condition, she is a real whopper!

If it is Rainscald then yes it is contagious thru animal to animal contact, atleast in Horses it is. It is not deadly and will usually heal in time minus repeated contact. It does cause extreme discomfort though and the open wounds from scratching can become infected.
Hunt'em hard when they are hard to hunt but never, ever hardly hunt!

I killed one with mange several years ago that was completely bald.I saw the deer coming from a long way off and thought it was albino.The thing was white as he could be but it ended up being skin.James down at Heighberger referred me to a biologist up the road close to oakmulgee.She took some skin samples and consulted with a vet and sure nuff it was mange.
