The other post made me think, what would I pick if I could have only one rifle to hunt deer with here in Alabama.
Browning BAR in 270 Win.
I would probably trade it for a light bolt action 7mm-08 or 243 when I get older.

One rifle for deer would be a Remington 700 SPS Tactical in .308
One rifle to hunt everything in Alabama would ba a Marlin bolt action .22WMR
Get the F out of the BATFE. The F is guaranteed by the US Constitution. Those other letters are not.

Sako model 75 Finnlight .308 x2 except I have 7mm-08
Do not regret growing older, it's a privilege denied to many!

I would never choose a semi auto. An accurate Auto like the BAR would be tough to beat for all around hunting IMO.

I would never choose a semi auto. You're missing out pal. Toted a BAR "slip-o-matic" 30-06 first 15 years I hunted. Got 1 I need to sell MOF.
