What are you guys seeing in terms of pigs entering pens this time of year? Are you still catching a fair amount or have they become lazy in this heat and not moving far from water as much?

thanks

Last year we caught them by the truck loads in the hot dry weather. This year we are still catching a few, but the soil moisture and mild temps have made our bait not look as good as it did when it was hot and the ground was dry. Weshould pick up a couple dozen more this month, but last year our two hot months produced the most pigs and pig activity on our traps. It slowed a lot in September when the early acorns fell.

The muscadines are beginning to fall here....and there is a bumper crop! They are walking the roads sucking them up!!
Lots of food with this wet Summer.

July was brutal all the way around this year. There is food and water everywhere you look. I have 4 traps up right now and will be putting up another 3 or 4 this weekend. Hopefully, things will start to improve soon.

Scattering soured fermented corn and its juice on the ground and poured in a posthole dug hole 3 + ft deep inside the pen is working pretty good.
Freshen it up every couple of days and they keep coming.

Pig sightings are way down. Way too much food and water everywhere!!!! Our pigs are spread out and not congregated at all.
