I agree elkhunter I hunt some on the Alabama and tombigsbee and I have seen 20 acre corn fields wiped out almost over night. The northern half of the state is a different story. And the southern half they can move around like gypsies there one day and gone the next. I own land on the Alabama river and have hunted all over the state of Alabama, Georgia and some in Florida, Louisiana and Tennessee. The northern half of the state does have hogs but very few and there are more areas without hogs than with. I know of 4 or 5 places off the top of my head around Calhoun county that has good numbers of hogs at one time that you can't find a bit of sign on now and have not seen any sign for several years now.

dadbud, you are right they have not taken over Alabama yet. There are places in Alabama that you wont find any hogs. They are more concentrated in the areas hogwild said.
But they are only going to get worse due to the ignorance of a lot of landowners and the ridiculous game laws that are currently enforced in Alabama. "They" want them all killed but the current laws contradict that.
You cant even hunt hogs with dogs on any public land in Alabama. Why is that? They will tell you it's because they don't want them being transported to other areas and turned loose but surely all the game wardens and whoever is making the laws realize that it makes absolutely no difference. The people that want to transport them are going to do it no matter what the law is or what season is open. Alabama will soon become like Texas and hogs will be a plague. Then they will panic and open season on them and set up hog buying stations where people can bring them alive and sell them on the hoof. You know after it's too late..

I get it. Because there is not wild pig problem in Alabama. Mgmt areas don't let you hunt them hardly at all. There is no night hunting allowed and people are charging up to $600.00 to take others on a hog hunt! All this would not be happening if there was a true problem.
So you think that because they're not all over the state that there not a problem? There are plenty of farmers and land owners that would strongly disagree that they're not a problem. What the state does is meaningless because we all know they aren't the brightest bunch.Hogs breed often and have babies more than the ghetto queen's do.

Heck elkhunter posted a pic on Facebook today of a trap with 18 pigs in it.
I shot one today in cleburne county next door to calhoun, there were 3 more with it.
