The similarities in the area seems to be they had little pine trees, and were old pasture land with predominant hardwoods/cedar,etc. The soil for growing the bigger bucks seems to be also better for growing hardwoods as opposed to growing pine trees (not to say it couldn't grow pine trees). Also, the two areas seems to have more of a mature open canopy type of forest, allowing native browse to grow below the understory as opposed to pine plantation monoculture? Would you agree with this?
