Get in your car and drive thru Port St Joe, explore Capt San Blast. Drive to Applach and eat some oysters, and drink more beer. Charter a boat and go fishing.

I just got back from a week at Cape San Blas. You can always go trout fishing in St. Joseph's Bay. There is also a golf course in Port St. Joe. Check out Killer Seafood in Mexico Beach and Up The Creek raw bar in Apalachicola.

Not a lot to do in Mexico Beach. If your camping at the El Govenor campground you can use the pool at the hotel across the street. There are a few resturants but your best bet would be to go to Appalachacola for dinner. Port St. Joe is a really cool place to visit. Also, scallop season is in. You can just walk out anywhere from the shore and start looking.

If you're drinking beer in the campground, don't call anyone a tough MFer.

In Mexico Beach, you can buy fresh seafood at the marina store on the north side of hwy 98. For a day trip, you can travel 12 miles east to St. Joe and see the State Constitution Park and Museum. For the missus, quaint little shops and restaurants on 2nd and 3rd streets in St Joe. When you get into St Joe, scallop season is already in. You will need a saltwater license. (They sell 3 day, 7 day and annual licenses.) You can take hwy 71 to Lake Wimico for bass, flounder, redfish and trout But if you keep freshwater species, you need the freshwater or combination license. Further on hwy 98 east out of St Joe is Cape San Blas, the state park out on the cape, Indian Pass raw bar, Confederate salt works and cabins. Appalachicola is another 20 something miles to the east. Google gulf county and you won't ever run out of things to do. I've not even scratched the surface here. If I was going to be in town that week, I would meet up with you, but I have to leave on business day after tomorrow. Have fun and be safe.

BTW, we are staying at the Rustic Sands Campground.. 8-11 August
I do love me some oysters and wimmens in Bikini's
I would imagine most of our travel around the area will be on motorcycles.. leaving the trucks in the driveway.. easier to park a bike than it is trying to find a parking spot for a vehicle.

You are assuming this area is like Destin or Panama City. It's not. There are some bikinis but not like other places. Mexico Beach is better than the Cape for bikinis though. Parking is not an issue. This is a laid back part of the gulf coast. There are no high rise condos. I think the Cape San Blas prohibits anything over 3-4 stories tall. If you go to Indian Pass Raw bar at dinner, expect to wait outside for a while. Of course, you can be drinking while you wait. And it is not open on Sunday or Monday.

Fish off the pier. Yes. You save your bottle caps and take them to the register when you leave.

I'd definitely try St Joseph Peninsula State Park one day too. We went snorkeling and fishing in the bay and it was great. There are two gates to the park. the first gate is the one they close at sunset and the second is where you pay. $6 per vehicle for the day. There is a parking space between the two, and a short hike to the bay. We were the only ones out there and it was great.

Most of the swimsuits you see will be one piece units stretched tight over a Michelin tire man body. But hey, that may be your speed. Enjoy!

I forgot to mention "Gulf Foods" supermarket in Mexico beach. Mr. Ike Godwin and his wife own it. Really good people. They have any fresh produce and groceries you need. The meat section cannot be beat. His breakfast sausage is made by simply grinding up a pork butt and adding seasoning and has very little fat. He doen't believe in putting eyeballs and buttholes in his sausage. He hand cuts his filet mignon right there, too.

Triple Tails outside of St. Joe on the way to Cape San Blas is some fine eating! I recommend the grilled grouper sandwich, but their seafood platter's pretty good, too.
