Robert, that story has been floating around since it happened. It may or may not be true. There are not many people who really know, and they aren't talking.

And although the newspaper stories don't mention it, the guy that got killed probably did have a shotgun loaded with buckshot and was night hunting, not just spotlighting. I've heard that too many times from too many people who should know for it to be a myth. And he wasn't on a public road; he was way back in on Bain's land.

Bain was a very stout man, but he was beaten up pretty bad when it all was over. There are probably a lot of similarities in that case and the current Zimmerman trial, with the difference being that Bain was trying to stop a crime on his own land.

He had some other good lawyers on his team as well. But here is a fact I'm sure of - there were plenty of folks in the jury pool who didn't like the Henderson's and would have been more than willing to convict him if he were guilty of murder. And the jury heard the case and returned in less than an hour with a verdict of not guilty.

Don't believe everything you read in a newspaper. In fact, these days its better to believe nothing you read in a newspaper. Much more likely to read the truth on aldeer. Its where I go for all the news.

Bain has never killed anyone, that's a fact! I actually talked to some of them about this last week! This case is what started Sand island in millers ferry! Bain gave the island to the Gilmores for payment then they developed what they got! I think man was killed on their land in Hamburg not Millers Ferry. I wish I had time to tell some of the stories they have told me over the yeArs it would make a great thread! I sat down with Tommy earlier this summer and I listen to some of his greatest hits. Tim also use to be a nut and there are some good one with him in it also but too much typing!

The bass master hotel still up and running? Dad and I were down there in january visiting some friends in the early 90's and checked in the bass master hotel around midnight. There were holes in the walls and the heat blew cold air in. It felt colder outside than it did out. At 2am we'd had enough and checked out. Pretty much donating our fair for the room. He'd said it was a nice place back in the day but it was a dump that night.

A friend of mines dad sat in a chair on the sidewalk in front of the Bassmaster Inn armed with a seven shot 12ga Model 12 Winchester and a case of buckshot when the blacks marched thru Camden at the time of the Selma Pettus Bridge march. The marching blacks moved over a block and bypassed the Bassmaster Inn that day. They wern't as stupid as they looked.....

It was a different place then.....
