Letter of the law vs. spirit of the law. God wants us to fulfill the obligations of our marriage, but if one spouse violates the marriage contract and the marriage ends, I doubt He faults the one who tried to do the right thing. I know many divorced and remarried people who are no doubt blessed by God.
