The other topic on alcohol made me think of a discussion we had at work a few weeks ago on the subject of divorce and getting married again. Thought I would see what everyone's opinion on that subject is.

Matthew 5:32
But I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, causes her to become an adulteress, and anyone who marries the divorced woman commits adultery.

Matthew 19:9
I tell you that anyone who divorces his wife, except for marital unfaithfulness, and marries another woman commits adultery.

1 Corinthians 7:10-11 To the married I give this command (not I, but the Lord): A wife must not separate from her husband. But if she does, she must remain unmarried or else be reconciled to her husband. And a husband must not divorce his wife.

Those passages pretty much sum up my opinion on the subject.

And thus one of the reasons I am still unmarried at 36. I haven't found anyone that I think I could spend the rest of my life with, and they haven't found me. That, and I'm a sloth.

Christ is not for divorce. Christ is also merciful and forgiving. It would be wonderful if the church could be more like Christ.

So what does that make a man that's been divorced twice but asks god to forgive him of his sins everyday?

Glad you can find humor in someones salvation or perhaps lack of. I only know of one man that was without sin.

What does divorce have to do with salvation anyway... unless you are a habitual cheater.... then you may have some issues...

All joking aside, I take the union of a man and woman very seriously. Been with Julie like 8 or 9 years and we are getting married this September. BOTH of my parents are on their 3rd marriage and aside from the biblical references it SUCKS for the kids. I refuse to follow in their footsteps.

John 8

New King James Version (NKJV)

1 But Jesus went to the Mount of Olives.

2 Now early in the morning He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and He sat down and taught them.

3 Then the scribes and Pharisees brought to Him a woman caught in adultery. And when they had set her in the midst,

4 they said to Him, “Teacher, this woman was caught in adultery, in the very act.

5 Now Moses, in the law, commanded us that such should be stoned. But what do You say?”

6 This they said, testing Him, that they might have something of which to accuse Him. But Jesus stooped down and wrote on the ground with His finger, as though He did not hear.

7 So when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself up and said to them, “He who is without sin among you, let him throw a stone at her first.”

8 And again He stooped down and wrote on the ground.

9 Then those who heard it, being convicted by their conscience, went out one by one, beginning with the oldest even to the last. And Jesus was left alone, and the woman standing in the midst.

10 When Jesus had raised Himself up and saw no one but the woman, He said to her, “Woman, where are those accusers of yours? Has no one condemned you?”

11 She said, “No one, Lord.”

And Jesus said to her, “Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

12 Then Jesus spoke to them again, saying, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.”

Don't back pedal out now. You implied a lack of salvation with your comments even if you didn't come right out and say it. The bible has something to say about judging others which is also a sin.

All I have to tell you is:

Quote:
“Neither do I condemn you; go and sin no more.”

Romans 8

38 For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come,

39 nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

I'm not back pedaling..... I implied no such... if you can't take a joke... don't quote and reply me.... You been around here long enough to get a joke....
I am not casting stones nor insinuating anyone is an adulterer.... Nor am I telling anyone they are going to Hell for being divorced 9 times..... Maybe you DO need to back pedal....

I have been around here for a while and I have as thick a skin as anybody, maybe more so. I also don't joke about matters involving someones salvation. In my mind that's serious business. You can sugar coat your response till the cows come home but my reading comprehension is just fine. 49er posted scripture I concur with and I'll leave it at that. I won't respond to anything else that's posted in this thread.

I'm not joking about someone's salvation.... It's a generalization question... not pertaining to any particular person... If he/they/she were talking about themself... I would not have made any comment.... I'm not going to insult or berate anyone going through such... Some people just need to pull their panties out of their twat....
