My brother in law has one that 2nd gear is out and think it needs a clutch. I can get it cheap but scared of the repair cost. All hydraulics and tracks seem to be in good shape. Does anyone have experience with repairs on these or should I run away fast. Any idea's would be much appreciated. I believe its an 88 model.

What transmission does it have if all your missing in 2nd gear I don't think it's going to be the clutch

This is all the info i have on it..he says the clutch slips when it gets hot, but he's a doctor not a heavy equipment mech..

If it has a power shift trans it's very likely its a clutch pack leaking oil or a valve sticking or stuck need to check pressures

Aside from the transmission issue, I'd look real close at the rails and pins. The track pads have surely been replaced since '88 but if the rails and pins have lots of wear on 'em you'll be out some decent $$$ for that.
