You put lights and siren behind them and alot of them just stop in the middle of the lane. thru this^^^^^^ I learned early in Jefferson Co if I need to get somewhere in a hurry(on a call or assistance) NOT to turn the lights on. Dumbsobs on the interstates will slam on the brakes and stop IN the travel lane. I saw that happen Friday before last, everyone was moving over to the right to let an ambulance get past when a IDOT pulled out in the left lane. The ambulance damn near ate his rear end up when the IDOT realized the ambulance was there and locked em down  You're supposed to fall in behind the ambulance.
