I had a big bird that I got set up on Saturday morning trying to call him in for my fiance he was roosted with in a hundred yards of two other gobblers well after an hr of waiting on him to pitch down he finally did and went straight to the other birds and shut everything up. We aited around until 9 30 or so but he didnt come back. So sunday morning before church me and a friend of mine went back to kill that mean sucker. Right at daylight he started gobbling and he was not 70 yards from where he was the day before he had a hen roosted close that we could hear we wasnt 100 yards from him when we set up. S o after playing soft and suttle for an hr he finally bred his hen and flew out on a ridge about 100 yards from us he never would leave the ridge so I told my buddy to sit tight and I done the walk away slow and call every 75 feet or so but he still wouldn't leave the ridge. So I waited and pulled out the haint and gobbled at him and he answerd back instantly and came to the lip of the ridge but still wouldn't come down. So then I pulled out my slate and started a fighting purr and cutting on a mouth call and the hobbled again and took my wing out and beat my boot with it and he went nuts and tripple gobbled and came running straight at me and runs right into my buddy at 30 yards only fir him to miss what would have been the biggest bird he ever killed only for him to miss him. But the haint theory worked after 2 and a half hrs of being nice and soft and finally throwing the kitchen sink at him and swinging for the fence. He broke and came running.

Great story! I still haven't been able to get my Haint to sound like anything better than a new years eve party noisemaker...

Colt the thing that helped me the most with learning how to blow the haint was a video on youtube by josh smallwood just go to YouTube and type in haint gooble call and you will see it pop up his videos helped me out alot more than the down and dirty videos.

Though I rarely post anything on this site I thoroughly enjoy reading! However, this subject needs some attention. I hunt at least 5 mornings a week and have killed 5 in AL 2 in GA and called up 8 more for friends that met their maker. I am 100% sure at least 5 of those would still be alive if I did not have a Haint!!!

I will admit it is probably one of the most difficult calls to blow, but once you get it right it is DEADLY! It will occasionally scare one off, but older birds or one that is really fired up that just hangs up, they just can't take it!

They make a wooden one and a plastic one. The wooden one is about $15 more, but it is much easier to blow.

I worked a bird yesterday the only thing he responded to or came to was the Haint. Had him at bout 50yds no shot then he flanked me had a shot at 60-70 but i passed. This turkey was in a highly pressured WMA and found him at 10:00 worked him 12:45 and had another hunter slip in and bump him. Just be careful when using it becuase it does draw attention from other hunters. Its always a last ditch call for me on public grounds, becuase of saftey reasons.

I have got to get me one of those before next year. I have been hunting a bird that might just work on.
