Sorry the full story of the jakes is found in the S H Turkey Thugs group. Here is what it said..........
Here we go!!! Hunting with a close friend this morning THAT HAS NEVER TURKEY HUNTED!!!!!! We hiked to the back of the property to a spot where he had pictures of a few Gobblers. As it always happens he gobbled back at the truck. We headed back to a greenfield on the creek and set up. He gobbled 4 times about 80 yrds of the field. After making two fly down cackles four jakes pitch in the field and a few minutes later he pitched out into the road feeding the field. I softly yelped twice and he ran in and busted the jakes up. I held the shooter off till the bird stuck his head up. A hard cut and BOOM I look up to see the gobbler running off. I ask what happened did you miss? He said no I had the bead on the longbeard and pulled the trigger. I said but the Longbeard just ran off. He said well whats that flopping in the field. And yes he killed his 1st and 2nd bird on his 1st hunt ever. "Jakes" Yes but I wouldn't trade a first bird for anything. He will remember that for a long time. So it doesn't matter if he read the story or not really because it still doesn't tell us where the birds were killed at and if it was a state where two birds can be taken in the same day.
Some men are mere hunters; others are turkey hunters. —Archibald Rutledge—
