Gettin to go in the morning

went this past weekend. some area's had turkey's gobbling and other were quite. the signs are there but our birds have not got fired up yet. spent 13 hours in the woods saturday and went back at it sunday. my buddy & i got into one good hunt that was fun but no bird killed. jakes and some hens got into the middle of the action. it was hard to pull the ole tom away. we moved once on him to higher ground & had him come in close but no show. gave up by 11:30. will be back at it this weekend.

We just got on the board guys. Don't get real excited yet, but he counts!

He gobbled, I think, once.....but anyhow. He's an ice breaker and gonna be good in my belly.

It's been tough this season. The birds are still not right yet. Gobbling is just now starting to pick up to what I would call semi-normal.

How long will the mods accept turkeys from out-of-state hunts? When our season is over I'm headed west to hopefully fill a few tags.

yeah i went to some spots you told me to go last year and heard nothing their just not gobbling good yet i run into n2deer in the woods and he said the same thing

we got on birds last weekend but could not get them to come in closer then 75 yards. gobbling has picked up and i think the hens are starting to lay. gobblers are moving more alone and busting up which is good. will get after it again this weekend.

If things don't pick up here they are going to award us something stupid, and make sure we all get in the same team next year. I've never entered a turkey contest, decided to this year, and haven't done well at all. I'm still not hearing birds, and my AL season is coming to a close. I'm not going to get to go much more here.

well, another weekend and no bird. got on one saturday that came in close enough to hear him drum but hens pulled him off. had to cut it off at noon to do some spring planting. rain out today. headed to missouri next saturday for week. maybe my luck will change, reports later.

Had one burning it up Sunday morning, then he just stopped. Reckon something spooked him. Wasn't me because I wasn't even close to setting up on him yet.

Worst season I have ever had. Very little gobbling and even fewer workable turkeys. Maybe next year. They got to gobble sometime. Ready for deer season now.

we had a great time in missouri. heard a lot of birds. i ended up with one bird that was taken the first day. the bird was 18lbs2oz,11 3/4 beard and 3/4 spurs. it was a 2 1/2 year old. funny story about this kill. my huntin buddy and i were taken a break at noon, playing with some new slate calls and having lunch. i heard them (3) long beards as they were running up to us at a fast pace. i got my gun up and they stopped at 15 steps in front of me. i shot one but my buddy was turned the opposite direction and could only watch the show. high fives all around and it was a great start to the week. tried to load a picture, but will need a little IT help first. enjoyed the participation in the turkey contest and maybe next will be better.
