no luck here guys after 3 days of hard hunting. it felt good to get into another season. the cold on friday held up the gobbling but it got better saturday. i laughed at a jake trying to gobble and within 5 minutes the boss tom sounded off at 6:40. after setting up and flying down, some hens moved in behind me and started yelping, this is perfect right? but the tom would not come any closer. the second set up at 60 yards closer got him to gobble and drum within 70 yards but no show for the morning. listen to another that answered my calls but in another zone. we hunt zones in our club and you don't cross those lines for safety. i heard something sunday for the first time, a distressed rabbit squeal that moved along a branch for about 100 yards and ended with a load squeal. must have been a coyote or cat having breakfast. it can only get better as we get into the season.
