This was my wife's maltese, Sugar[I called her Cujo half the time]. She was super smart and had tons of heart. She weighed 2 3/4 lbs but would take on ANY dog that she thought was a threat. If you would let her lay in your lap, you had a genuine friend. We have always had dogs and of all sizes, but this one was special. She was born with a severe cleft palate and had severe seizures quite often. 2 different vets said that she would not live till her eyes opened, much less till aldulthood. Lissa refused to believe that and she made it a point that as long as this little dog would fight for life she would do all she could for her. Well, she turned out to be a fighter. There was many sleepless nights on my wifes part, and to many visits to the vet to count on all of my fingers and toes. I'm sure Dr. Adams could have added a room or two to his house for what we spent on vet bills and medicine, but we didn't mind a bit. Her health issues finally caught up with her when she was nine years old [last year]. My wife and I both cried like like we had lost a family member.
