Will fish that are caught during a tournament from miles and miles in all directions from the boat ramp migrate back to their "home" after being released?

Mortality for the winter Classics is far less than it was for summer, although there probably will be some delayed. But the fish are pretty well cared for in the boats and the giant release tanks.

The VBC is not big enough, neither for the outdoors show expo or the weigh-in. After stage set-up for the weigh-in, the already small number of VBC seats would be reduced even more. Arenas the size of the BJCC, Shreveport, Tulsa's BOK Center, New Orleans, Charlotte, Greenville ... at least 250K for expo space and about 17,500 or more seating.

Huntsville looked into hosting the VBC five years ago. BASS reportedly was ready to do the deal and cram, shoehorn and make do with the expo size and arena simply because Guntersville and Wheeler presented such great opportunities within 30ish minutes of the venue. The city didn't want to put up the money.

Birmingham never will turn it down. It's a good winter revenue-generator, the lakes are within 90 minutes on two or three major rivers, and the BJCC and hotel know exactly what to expect and how to manage everything. It's about as smooth as butter down there.

FLW could have the Forrest Wood Cup in Huntsville quite easily. Mortality the first week of August probably would be scary, whether immediate or delayed.

Some do, yes. Most don't. They don't complain, either, because it's not that big of a deal. They're fish.

Reckon if I went to the BJCC with a good sharp filet knife they'd let me have the bass after the weigh in? laugh

If you're referring to the 3 fish limit suggested above, then it's more about making the sport more appealing to outsiders. I've been to many ramps the next morning after a tournament and have seen dozens of floaters.

Most of the smaller tournaments that I fish on Nickajack are 3 fish limits.

And I have been to the ramp many mornings/afternoons and seen catfish, stripe, crappie and bream floating as well. Heck I seen that riding down the lake too. So your point is exactly what? Everyone should quit fishing? Not me!!

I just hate tounaments in general. The vast majority have no respect for the local fishermen. I have had many people come up to me and ask if I was fishing a tournament. When I said no, they think that means it is ok to cut me off and start fishing where I am. Just one example of the A hole, Im better than you attitude most of the Competitors have. I wont call them fishermen, they are there to compete, not fish.

The weights will be unbelievable. 35 pounds (5 fish) won a tourney last Saturday and 34 pounds won Sunday.

I tournament fish on occasion but some of the guides on Guntersville are much worse than any tournament fisher ever thought about being.

EverStart leader yesterday on Guntersville had 30 pounds.

Thirty-nine limits were better than 20 pounds and seven were better than 25 pounds.

But the lake sucks.

If someone asks if you're fishing a tournament just say, "No, I'm fishing this spot for my one day a week to relax on the water so go on."

It happens! I have been cut off when I wasnt in a tourney, and I have cut off someone when I was in a tourney! I usually wont start fishing within 100 yards of another boat, and have had some start right on top of me! Not saying it is right, but it is gonna happen!

Ya'll need to come down to Montgomery the first week in may to watch 100 BASS boats and the enturage that will follow them around the River.. that will be a site to see.. I'll be in Selma fishing and I am sure some will lock through to come down and intrude on our waters!

This is why I try to avoid tournaments. Sometimes hard to do.

I guess some of you think you own the lake. I just dont see what the big deal is. Who gives a dam if somebody starts fishing beside you. The fish cant tell, and will still bite. Complain complain complain. And whats the big deal about fish dyin in a tourny? Its no different then you takin home and fryin em up! Some of you are straight up hypocrites!

Alot of people down these pro fisherman. When it comes down to it, your just jealous. Thats how these guys make a livin. Are some a$$s, sure. But aint we all. And i would love to fish for a living. Would jump on that oppurtunity in a heartbeat.

not jelous, and I dont think I own the lake. But I try to be courtious to other fishermen, tourney or not, and I expect the same thing.
The problem I have is that the tourney folks as a whole seem to believe they own the lake.

Jealous? Bullshit. A lot of these adults on here hate putting up with jackleg attitudes.

I know a ton of the pro anglers and have worked with them over the years. Some are great. Some are asses. Just like on here.

Jealousy damn sure ain't the problem.

I said some are not all.
And i am courtious also, and want the same.
But i wont let it ruin my day if not.
I still seem to be able to catch fish, even beside other fishermen. Regaurdless if i was there first or not. Just dont see the big deal.
I wouldnt give two craps if a pro came up and invaded my spot, after all he is fishin for big bucks and im just out there for fun. I can go back any day

The classic will be great for this area
