Ok, I know this ain't the fishing forum but I just read in the Guntersville Gleam that next year's Bass Master Classic will be fished on Guntersville Lake......
and..........

WTF??????? Is Obama running these damn tournaments now?
It would LOGICALLY seem that boats will be hauling ass all over the lake to catch the big catch as early as possible (but staying till the last minute when that don't happen), then hauling ass to the dock, especially on the last day, and then trucks pulling boats will be hauling ass to Birmingham to beat the deadline. What the Hell are these people thinking?

The guys have to be at the dock by a certain time. Then they all load up and caravan to b'ham to officially weigh them in, in front of an arena full of spectators. Same way they did it when they fished Lay and Logan Martin.

I don't want to hear any more lip from tournament fishermen about keeping bass to eat.......
At least when I kill them, they are going to good use. 90% of those fish will wind up as turtle food.

Huntsville's VBCC should be plenty big enough and a lot closer.

They do this all the time....the 2011 Classic was on Lay and they held the venue at BJCC, which is a pretty good haul. This years Classic was on Grand Lake and they held the weigh in in Tulsa, which again, is a haul. From my understanding it is about 1.5 hr drive.
From my understanding, they don't keep the fish in the boats. The fish will be transported in a huge holding tank on a big truck.

They should do it at the football stadium like they used to, or find a different lake to fish.

Good Lord! How big a place they need? More people than VBCC will hold come to watch a boat parade?

I have been to the Classic in B'ham several times and seen them turn people away an hour before the show started. That's how big.

The show will draw far more people at the BJCC. The economic impact to Jackson, Marshall and Jefferson counties will be significant.

I think it's a bunch of bull that they do this but they have to be taking good care of the fish or it wouldn't be happening. But I am also the type of guy that believes when the weather gets hot every tourney should be 3 fish.

It's very rough on fish when the water temps are in the 80's or more. The Classic is about the only time I'm ok with them transporting fish that far since the tournament is always in February.

Btw, the classic field is consists of 50 anglers for 2 days and only 25 the third day. I would consider that a small tournament. No dead fish are allowed to be weighed. With a first place purse of $500,000 plus additional sponsorship money, the fish will be pampered.

The daily creel limit is never exceeded in tournaments, so is it ok for everyone else to keep their fish and not tournament anglers?

If you're referring to the 3 fish limit suggested above, then it's more about making the sport more appealing to outsiders. I've been to many ramps the next morning after a tournament and have seen dozens of floaters. Most of the smaller tournaments that I fish on Nickajack are 3 fish limits.
