I don't see that statement as pitiful. I think that he will end up with probation, most likely not as a youthful offender and will end up playing football somewhere else. There are actually people that commit crimes and learn from their mistakes and become model citizens afterward.

Any apology to the victim will come at the time he pleads guilty. I would never let me client apologize to someone before the case was resolved and neither would any other attorney.
