The few does we kill on plots are right at the beginning of the season. We shut it down the first full weekend of Dec. In a place with moderate to low deer density and smaller patches it makes a big difference in doe/buck sightings. If your hunting high deer density areas with large fields it has less effect. The more pressure you can remove from any hunting area the better. I can always go to a few road crossings I know and kill a doe about anytime and probably have a greater chance of killing a good buck.
I have some relatives that at the first of the season when the grass is green/tender and the deer are nailing the patches they scream "We need to kill some does" but when they get hunted a few weekends and patches get eaten down they see fewer deer and shut up. We dont have too many does - they are just concentrated in one area for the time being.
