When you look at something like that, it is not about the guy that was lucky enough to kill it or whether it was taken illegally, even though I hope it wasn't. But it is about honoring the deer that was capable of growing such a beautiful rack.
My Dad is a taxidermist in south Georgia and I can assure you that if someone wanted their mount back in a couple of weeks or so, he could do that for them. Money talks when it comes to expiditing mounts. He has one client that always pays an extra $200 to get his back ASAP. It is a service and you pay for it.
Heck, I have one with him for over a year now, so I guess being his son has no clout, especially when I am a non-paying customer.
