I've seen more impressive deer get about a tenth of the "attention" that this one got, so I don't think it has as much to do with the size as all the stories out there that have come from friends plus the pictures that "seem" to contradict the story from the hunter.
The 2 170's from Jackson Co. drew no "haters" that I know of, so what's the difference??? the difference is everyone that knew the two hunters in Jackson Co. vouched for their story and even their integrity.
This deer could have been killed legally and honestly if it was me I might opt out of defending myself to a bunch of random guys on a talk forum, BUT the pictures coupled with all the stories create reasonable doubt and in a state with as many outlaws as Bama has it's not unreasonable to question how a buck was killed after all the speculation from people that know him...JMO
