Do any of you know how the quality of deer hunting is in the Coy and Hybart area? Specifically the Buckhorn creek area? The place borders the Alabama River for a couple of miles. Is the deer density high in this area? Thanks for any help!

i hunted across the highway in coy and didn't see hardly any deer . locals dog hunted about everyday. hunted up by hybart on east side of highway and it was about the same as coy . a waste of time and money!
been hunting 55 years. a little slower but much wiser . laws are for outlaws not sportsmen. respect the land and the wildlife !

I hate to say it but I hunted in a dog club just across the river there for a couple of years there and the hunting was awful. My son killed a couple of deer there, but I never could connect on a shooter. Deer numbers were low and the dog numbers were high. I loved the area, but the hunting sucked. I do a lot better here in Colbert County than I did there. I would pass on that area unless it is strictly managed for good deer-and that type of membership is going to be costly, VERY COSTLY.

Forgot to mention-the hog numbers are very high and we had a blast on them. That is why we stayed there two years. They were fun to hunt. Hog hunting is very good there.

Thanks for the info guys. I have never been part of a great lease but I have been part of a few leases the last 10 years or so. I always get my hopes up for the deer hunting to be good and it just never pans out. Location is the key to good deer hunting IMO and I am doing my homework to find that right location. I am to the point that if I do not find that right spot this season I will wait till I do and hunt a place a couple minutes from my house. I am willing to pay a good amount of money to be apart of the right lease. I am a serious deer hunter and am only interested in harvesting bucks that are at least 3.5 years old.
