The logic for us and a couple of other clubs that I know of is to not kill the does on the fields so that they will remain comfortable in coming on to the fields. This in turn has produced more mature buck sightings on the fields. Especially during the rut as more does are comfortable coming into fields then the bucks will follow. We can kill does by getting off of the fields and into the woods. It has also increased sightings on fields in general. I guess it comes down to what your specific goals are and what type of terrain you are hunting. If its all young pines and you have nothing to hunt but fields I guess it might be harder to hunt the woods. I will say that we kill several good bucks on fields and I don't know if we would or wouldn't if we did shoot does on fields all of the time. I also know some clubs that just kill does on certain fields. I think you just have to decide what works best for your particular hunting situation in achieving your goals.
