issued at 10:53 am- FBI spokesperson Jason Pack in Washington has issued the following statement regarding the Dale County standoff.

"We are working with state and local law enforcement to bring this situation to a resolution. Investigators have no reason now to believe the suspect has injured the child.

Learned last night that a buddy of mine is there working(FBI). Praying for all of the officers/agents and the child. Hopefully the maniac will do the right thing and then burn in hell....

He's in a hole with no windows, with a crying kid and a TV

Use ground penetrating radar to determine MOC and thickness of the bunker roof and walls. Its probably wooden. Slowly and quietly dig by hand along the back wall when background noise allows. Neighbors said the bunker is covered in sand. Cover hole with tarp to keep ambient light out. Use NV goggles and chip away at the wood until you get a sliver of a crack that you can see through. Wait until his back is towards the boy and far enough away and unload a SMG into him. The wall is no match for FMJ and is easily penetrated. First round clears path for the rest.

Yeah it's a pipe dream, but it could be done.

That child needs to be rescued.

The best thing any of us can do is to continue to pray for God's intervention. There is power in prayer and we should pray without ceasing.....

I like your idea chem but the kids already traumatized enough. If he saw a man shot dead in front of him he'll never be right again. On the other hand if the man decides he's had enough and ain't goin to prison he may do something to the kid and shoot himself.Definately a terrible terrible situation and I hope and pray he let's the kid go.

Kids already witnessed one murder and endure three days in a hole. Seeing the person responsible pay for it might be better than we think

What that boy needs is a hug from his parents

I take it to be a storm shelter & there talking to him thru a breather pipe. Guys had to go to sleep sometime. Seems like they could see with somekind of snake cam & get a shot off on him. Surely in this amount of time they have cut the pipe off to where its only as thick as the concrete.

The first thing I learned in FBI Hostage Negotiation School is that TIME is your friend. As long as there dosen't appear to be any imminent threat of harm to the kid, the more time the better. Wear him down and KEEP COMMUNICATING with him.

ANY escalation of the situation BY EITHER SIDE is bad. Pretty sure those guys are on top of the situation as well as they can be.

I want the guy taken out as much as the next guy but more importantly I want that kid out alive.

I think he has a culvert pipe leading into the bunker. I think that's what they've been talking to him through.

I just wonder if this bunker was built for storms of if he's been planning this for a month now (since the Dec altercation/arrest). I don't recall any of the neighbors saying when he built the bunker...

I know that it's a far-fetched idea and the boy is better served in the hands of the professional that are on-scene and know what they're doing. Just sucks to have two young boys and wonding what hell the boy and his parents must be going through.

From the outside looking in, and reading that this guy was somewhat of a prepper, he planned this for quite a while. Knowing that, the place may be booby-trapped and that's probably why the police won't risk a rescue. Can't say that I blame them, although one side of me hopes that they can come up with SOMTHING to get that boy out soon.

Troy you posted the same time that I did. Patience is definitely a virtue in that situation. It's one thing I don't have a lot of to spare when I think of my kids in a situation like that.

Patience is key in a situation like this.

We had a student in my FBI school that had zero patience and a short fuse. On his first(and last) test he blew a fuse and cussed out the hostage taker and threatened him. Who in the hell picked this guy to go to the school??

The negotiator has to be open minded to the whole situation and make the decision IF his plan is working and if not, when to send the SWAT boys in.

Yep, BhamFred nailed it.

With that being said...one of the guys neighbors should have buried his arse in multiple deep dark holes long long ago. With all the stuff we've heard about him since this happened..the threats he'd made to neighbors and such...I promise you if I'd been one of the neighbors that dude would NEVER have lived long enough to harm anyone. He'd have simply been a missing person.

Think what you want. If you'd tolerate him threatening your family with a gun, that's on you. His neighbors are suffering for their lack of action. As is an innocent child.
