He was a young bird, so I figured he was banded this year. I will find out where he came from when I get the email from repot a band.

I killed a banded drake Woodie in AR, the person never turned in the info so I have no clue where it was banded

Alabama has had a banding program for quiet a few years now, our wood ducks come from Kentucky I've been told.

I killed a banded wood duck drake 3 years ago in AL that was banded at Santee NWR in South Carolina. I've heard of AL banded wood ducks being killed in MS, LA, and OH. Wood duck do what a wood duck want.

I killed one back in the 80's on the property that is now the LWMA. He was banded in PA and was at least 4 years old. Like a dummy I sent in the band (didn't know any better), I thought they would send it back. I did get a certificate.

Killed one two years ago in clarke county and sent the band off. My imagination went wild with where this duck was from. maybe Canada? Minnesota? Maybe Maine?

Nope, he was banded 300 yards across the river 9 months earlier, LOL.

Yeah I took a break from duck hunting for a while until a buddy kept pushing me to go. I went with him 3 times, in his honey hole and came out with a piece of jewelry. We both shot at the same duck but since he has hunted ducks all his life, I decided to give it to him to mount. That is what buddies are here for right. I could tell I shot the duck becasue I was shooting #1s and the holes in the duck were huge. I dont usually shoot #1s at woodies but its what I had from a couple years and decided to get rid of them.
