Guy said in order to compensate for the season extension in overall season length, the proposed regulation would also close deer season for 10 days during the first two weeks of December in that part of southwest Alabama where the extension is in place.
If they're going to extend the season to give hunters in those areas a chance to hunt rutting bucks, that's fine. But why complicate matters by trying to find ten days of the regualr season, to shut down? All that means is that they're trying to avoid hunters from any unaffected portions of the state complaining about someone else getting more time to hunt than them. If the rut is later down there, then I suppose that they could delay the beginning fo the season in those particular counties, but shutting it down in December seems like creating more of a problem than solvong one.
So, some hunter's going to whine and moan that "It's not fair. They get to hunt more than I do!" Really?! Sure they are! And they ought to be ashamed. Grown adults, pouting with their lip out. I don't hunt down that way. But I don't care if they get an additional ten days of gun season that I don't get. I know there are many valid asrguments on both sides of this situation, but DAMN. I hate that grown ups can act like children when they don't get their way or they worry about what someone else has got that they don't, cause they're worried about everything being fair.
Fair is NOT equal. Fair is getting what you need.
