got this one friday afternoon late. when i couldn't come up with a better plan, i went to a really pretty green field expecting the does to come in late and maybe trailing a buck. i'd never hunted that field myself, but i knew it had produced a few mature bucks over the years. well, about 4:20 or so the deer started coming in. first a spike, then a fawn followed by momma and a few more does. soon another spike came in and started doggin the does some. all these deer had come in on the same trail. this was starting to look promising! about 4:50 i saw this buck step in on same trail. he didn't seem too concerned with the does, just feeding. i had no shot as he was facing me directly at maybe 150 yards or so. i had to wait about 10 minutes (seemed like hours) for him to finally work towards me and present a broadside shot. put a good shot on him and he didn't make it too far out of the field. it was pretty dark when i collected myself, sent a few texts out and got down. my flashlight sux so i had a hard time finding blood and didn't wanna just start stomping the trail up, so i text for someone to bring a good light and eyes. thanks to CD for coming down and immediately finding the short trail to the buck! this is my first 10 and best ever buck!
