You should be charged with trespassing if your dogs are trespassing. You get one warning, the you get charged. Yep...it's really not all that hard to figure out.

I love my dog and like most dogs. I have and will take care of a situation that effects my hunting after confronting the problem and it falling on deaf ears.

Somebody is going to get shot over a dog at some point. I'm surprised this was not it. If you trap somebody in with your vehicle, you better be ready for a confrontation.

If you shoot a mans dog,you better be ready for a confrontation!! It goes both ways. You'd better make damn sure you have the right man before you start puffing your chest out and strutting around like a spring turkey too. Looks like the Sheriff's Deputy investigated and had no reason to hold or charge anyone with a crime. Just because you ASSUME you have the right person or what may have happened doesn't mean that it can be proven to the point that charges are filed. I'll say it again, the dog hunters are damn lucky to walk away with their lives after blocking in people and accusing them of a crime, whether they called the law or not. That is a FELONY. It's called false imprisonment, and if I were on the receiving end of it then it would be the dog hunters getting a pair of stainless steel bracelets and a ride in the back seat of the patrol car. I would have pressed charges in a heartbeat. You're not going to TRESPASS onto my leased property or block my access to a public road from my leased property and get away with it.

If one will shoot a deer...what is the difference in a dog? Maybe they planned to eat them?

The whole SSS philosophy is a cowardly thing to do in my opinion.
If you got a probelem handle it like a man not a wussy.

If you’re a common sense person, you probably don’t feel you have a home in this world right now. If you’re a Christian, you know you were never meant to.

"After hearing their story, the Alabama Dog Hunters Association stepped in to try and help bring justice.
"This has been going on and something needs to be done," Susan Morrow of the Mobile Chapter said."
Yeah. People need to get control of their dogs. Not condoning anybody shooting a dog, but I doubt this was the first time it happened.
There are basically no ENFORCEABLE laws on the books for dog hunting someone else's property.

If you got a probelem handle it like a man not a wussy. What if you HAVE confronted the owners several times and nothing changes? I'll tell you right now I am all about trying to do it the right way but like someone said when it falls on deaf ears repeatedly something must be done...I'll bet he doesn't have deer dogs ran through his property again after this problem! Its trespassing like has already been said and false imprisonment did occur..like bamachem said there would have either been charges pressed or someone would have received a lot of fear and fury from a ranchhand brushguard cause this boy is comin out...

Dealt with this in MS. Dog hunters leased property bording ours. They'd drive around to the opposite side of our property and let their dogs out on a fresh track that crossed onto our land. Dogs would run onto our land, and they'd hope the dogs would push the deer across our property and on to theirs.
It finally stopped when we rented a small house on the property to the GW for $200/month. When he moved in, the club couldn't hunt the way they were used to and lost their lease in less than two years. It's now a still-hunt-only club, thankfully.

That's a great solution but you shouldn't have to spend that money

Many dog hunters simply cannot accept the fact that they don't have use of YOUR property for killing deer. Any resistance to your property being run over by dogs is met with "dogs don't know lot lines" or "not illegal unless you catch them redhanded" or "heck we're probably running more deer your way". Very interesting logic.

I'm not one to skirt the law or give ammunition for one to break the law but there isn't much evidence there. I would hope most would tell me the truth but all a man has to say is that the dogs came at them or they felt threatened and its their word vs the dogs. If they make that statement and say they don't wanna say anything else (don't talk to the police) then there isn't a case.
Our county has a leash law and I don't believe hunting dogs aren't exempt.

Good shot. 3 shots, three dead dogs. The dog hunters have to know its coming when their dogs are constantly on other people's property. How would those same dog hunters have felt if they arrive at their property ( if they had any) and saw someone hunting out of a tree stand on their side of the property line. Oh it would have been different then. Most dog hunters don't care where their dog runs as long as they get to shoot about three boxes of bullets and injure about six deer.
Yeah c’mon. Daniel White

Had a similar problem several years ago. had the GW out. Nothing he could do. Had the Sherrif's Dept out. Nothing they could do. Did what I had to do and after 3 years of the guy losing dogs he finally quit breeding them and turning them lose on the road that bordered us. Never have had another problem and the guy even stops and talks occasionally. He knows he was wrong.
