I hate to go off on a rant but I feel it is needed. Why are folks killing does during the rut then complaining about buck sightings?

Idiots, I always take mine early in the season and then hunt for horns. x2...I killed 2 last week which was rare for me cause I usually shoot does during bow season but I didn't get any so I had to get me some meat.

I'm horn hunting this weekend....unless I get to Sunday at noon and haven't gotten one. Then if it's brown its down. Might be my last trip for the year and need another in the freezer.

Correct! Shoot them early , slack up a couple weeks before rut, hunt bucks, then after rut shoot some more if ya need to.

I have shot one so far this year however my club rules state that i can kill 3.....and we have no problem seeing bucks

Are you kidding? If I see a doe that is even looking a little nervous during the rut I shoot her and let her lay. If she is a hot doe you have stationary bait. One year I did this and had 8 different bucks come in and molest her on the ground. I never saw one of them I wanted to shoot so I had to get down and run them off before they destroyed the doe. It was the most entertaining morning I have ever had in the woods.

i see a doe at that time of year is like honey to a bee .big boy might be just a few feet away .
been hunting 55 years. a little slower but much wiser . laws are for outlaws not sportsmen. respect the land and the wildlife !

You people are way too paranoid. We kill does on plots, off plots, in the pasture, in the woods, and anywhere in between. We STILL kill great bucks. On numerous occasions I have killed a doe in the rut and killed a buck several minutes later. DOOM AND GLOOM hunters.  A dead, hot doe within sight of your tree right now is better than 600 lbs of corn.

If it is legal and comes with in bow range i will shoot it. Now if i see a big buck with a doe i will try to shoot the buck. I need at least one more in the freezer

Yeah. I think that most people shooting does right now don't get the opportunity to enjoy a full season. Just my thoughts. I shoot nanners anytime except the rut. Mainly because I would rather drag a rack out by then and not a slick head. But next weekend starts the doe thinning. Last week for me to only shoot a buck.

That is great if it works for you but I can promise you that you will not shoot does on plots, off plots, in the pasture, in the woods, and anywhere in between and still see deer and kill great bucks where I hunt! I am glad your deer density is high but everywhere is not like that. I hope it lasts for you! Know it all internet hunters that do not hunt on but know more about other peoples land and deer herds

Bigt, I know things are different on different properties, populations , etc. I've worked with landowners in two states. I hunt managed and unmanaged lands. My point was simple......shooting does in the rut doesn't typically negatively impact buck sightings. They lose their minds. Gun shots have a bad rep for being the culprit to no deer sightings. It isn't shooting. It is human pressure and presence.
In your case it could be population. But regardless of the population shooting does isn't running off your bucks.
