We had this deer on trail camera earlier this year.   We thought he was going to be in the 150-160 class. One of the hunters shot him yesterday on a food plot. The curious thing is he only weighed 140-150lbs. Now we are wondering if he is younger than we thought. I'll be pulling the jaw bone and posting the pics as soon as I can. I'll also be scoring him. We are thinking in the 140 class right now. Great buck for sure and congrats to the lucky hunter!!  Jawbone....

Wow!!! Congrats to the shooter and all of you provided an environment for him to thrive in. That's an impressive monster right there. He does look way bigger in the game camera pics. I estimate 137 on the tailgate, but he looks like a 150's and up deer on those game camera pics. I'd say 3.5 and 137", but I'm not that confident on this one.

That's a great buck, congrats to the hunter. Velvet pictures always fool me bad. Even knowing they are going to look bigger. I also think that they haven't put on quite as much weight early fall and this makes the antlers look even bigger. I agree that he looks huge in the trail cam photo.

He does look like a 150's 8 point in the trail pics. Great deer no matter what he scores. Teeth look 4.5 to me.

I would say 4 as well. Could even be older. Looks heavier than 150 as well. We've killed two 4+ year olds this year that have been our biggest bidy weight deer in years. One was 210 live weight and the other was 150 field dressed with his head and shoulders still on the ground. I figured the bumper acorn crop we had would have all the deer fat as ever.
Congrats to the hunter that got him.

I guess I'm shocked that a 4+ year old buck would weigh 140-150 on this property.

Yeah me too. Was he shorter than normal or anything unusal? Every deer i have cleaned this year has had fat on them like a pig. Ya just never know.

I didn't see the actual deer. One of the guys that did said it looked like a doe with horns on it's head. They did say it was all scarred up and had some puncture wounds in it's side which I would guess are from getting his butt kicked.

Could be either. You need comparisons to other jawbones off the same place. He'd a been an easy 1555-160 on a 200# deer.

jaw says possibly 5.5, definitely 4.5+. Heck of a nice deer. I killed one years ago that scored right at 140 and weighed 140, probably same age as this one! It happens.

I killed a 4.5 year old in Wilcox Co in 1974 er so , along the river next to Roy Childers place. I thought he would go easy 140, shot him at 95 yards in a BIG hardwood flat. Rack scored 115, deer weighed 130.
Worse, I killed gobbler with an 10.25 inch beard, 1" spurs that live weighed 12.5 pounds.....in Greene Co. He was not skinny, just small like my wife ran him three times in the dryer like my shirts she likes....

RE gobbler, killed one this year that had standard 10" beard and 1" spurs but everything else was small - frame, breast, tail feathers, wing feathers, head, short legs, and weighed all of about 13-14 lbs. ...it happens!
