I have this real nice buck checking this scrape, seems like every night and I am trying to lure him in the daylight with the Magnum Scrape Dripper hopefully it will bring him out in the daytime. Will this work or any other ideas to lure him out in the daylight shooting hours.

I do have a blind setup 50 yards away with a Doe decoy ready to put out on the trail.......

IMHO your wasting your time hunting that scrape. If it were me I would try and determine the bedding area he is frequenting and hand a stand on the edge of it, preferably between the bedding area and a food source. Then hope for some does to move through and drag him out.

Sit all day close to his bedding area or an area doe frequent, you might get lucky and catch him chasing a doe.

Get three good blueticks and let them go.......

Agreed. I honestly have to question anyone that thinks they can make a nocturnal buck not nocturnal, short of major changes in habitat and herd composition, and even then, some old bucks will always be nocturnal.

Suggestion, if you hunt the scrape, hunt it early am and right at dark... maybe you'll catch him heading through. I never used to hunt scrape lines and I hunted a field edge line last year and killed a big 8 at dawn light. I'm hunting one now hoping something slips up. You never know....

When hunting a MATURE buck on a scrape line, forget about the scrape itself. Start thinking about where he could lay and still monitor the scrape line; or where he could move in tight cover, and monitor his scrapes with out actually being at the scrape in daylight hours. A buddy and I found a real active scrape line several years back with a very mature buck using it. There was a real thick branch head to the south east of his scrape line which was running north and south. We figured the buck was bedding in that head, he could monitor his scrapes with out ever getting out of his bed. My buddy had never killed a decent buck, so I encouraged him to wait until everything was right and go in and hunt him. We hung a lock on due north of the branch head, far enough away he could climb in undetected and where a north west wind would miss him as he was bedded. He finally went in on his Bday as scent free as possible, and put out some Code Blue just far enough west of his setup that it would drift into the branch head. He had the buck on the ground about 45 minutes later. He couldn't see the scrapes from his setup but he could see the buck as he eased out of the branch head. I think most hunters hunt way too close to a scrape line. Mature bucks will sometimes check their scapes from a distance if they have cover or will bed down wind of them.

Whatever you decide, what that your wind does not drift onto his trail to or from the scrape AND be positive your scent does not drift to his bedding area.

There is a perfect example above. If you draw a map of his example, you will see what happened wind wise to make that come together.

If you use he decoy, be sure it faces away from your general direction if you are bow hunting. They like to come in to a doe from behind (they always approach bucks from the front)
