He was 260 yards away watching me and it was real windy. I tried grunting and using the can several times but he couldnt hear it.

I just dont know how hunters like you can risk killing god knows whats out there by just shooting at where you think the body is... I pray you dont have children you are passing this along to. You sir are an embarrassment to those that choose to hunt ethically!

I cannot see anything wrong with shooting a deer in the area he shot this one in. Just my $0.02

hell he's in a cutover holding the deer up. somebody sees the deer and cant see him and shoots at the kill area, look where he's sitting. good thing he's wearing a hunters orange hat, or some of you guys would of shot this fellow. LOL

First of all, congrats on a very nice deer. That would satisfy me for a few years.
I completely understand Chad's comments. You have to assume Chiefdog KNEW it was a deer, but all too often someone "thought" it was a deer in the brush. I can easily see a kid nestling up in a brush top and pulling out some rattling antlers and playing with them out of bordom. Just based on the way Chiefdog's description was written, it leaves a lot of room to question the certainty of the target. In the leases I've had in the past, it you couldn't see a deer clearly enough to count points and estimate age, it was too risky to shoot - not for fear of killing a young buck, but for safety. I'm really surprised this thread isn't 7 pages long at this point. With all of that said, I have to believe that Chiefdog was completely sure it was a buck and just didn't describe it well enough.

Nice! I've hunted cutover for years and if you were watching this fella for 2 hours then you dang sure knew what you were shooting... especially in 2 year old cut. Sorry you're getting grilled here man. Congrats on a great buck!

Again, you should have waited on that deer to stand up to make sure! This is just another reason for gun control laws! Idiots firing blindly into the sage!! I think there has to be a way to regulate this! If you have kids, it might not even be a bad idea to call child services to make sure your not risking there lives in some other way!
