If it really hits the fan, an AR can be obtained from some goob who has no idea which end goes bang. Y'all should see some of the idiots at the gun stored today. true words....

I've always enjoyed military style rifles. I think a bunch of people are buying rifles, high capacity mags & ammo with the thought of selling them for a profit. A pre ban Colt from before the first ban that cost $600 at the time sells for $1200+ now. A preban Norinco AK that sold for $300 sells for $1200+ now. If you have mags for a Norinco AK chambered in .223 they sell for $75-$125 each. I feel no particular "need" for them...just like them. IMO you should stock pile ammo in whatever caliber firearms you have. The majority of my firearms are NATO standard calibers though.

I certainly am not going to buy one at jacked up prices because I am scared.
Me either. If the bug to buy one hasn't bitten me by now I'm certainly not going to run out and buy one in the middle of a epic price gouge. I have an old SKS I bought in my early twenties. I also have an old M-1 carbine. Got some 30 round magazines for both but I rarely shoot them. Other than having some fun in a gravel pit they are pretty useless for anything else. What I keep by my bed for home defense is a short Mossberg shotgun with a 20 inch barrel loaded with 3 inch magnum number 4 turkey loads. I figure those 4's are a lot of bad Juju at inside house ranges. Never had much use for the .223 cartridge either. Too much for home defense and underpowered for anything in the outdoors bigger than a coyote.

I bought a Rock River Predator Pursuit last year to coyote hunt with. It has a heavy 20" barrel so other than having 30 round magazines, I don't see the advantage of this rifle for self defense. To me it's a 9 lb hunting rifle.

That's more than you would ever need Frankie. All these people buying 5000 rounds of ammo and twenty 30 round magazines. If the s##t hits the fan hard enough to need all that then they will need about 20 more people in the house with them firing out the windows on all 4 sides. LOL!

I am with you Fred. All these people are buying out of fear. IF they had wanted one before, why not buy it. There can not be that many people that we just waiting until later to buy them.
I used to own an AR. I enjoyed shooting it. But, I sold it because it was not what I wanted. I have thought of getting another one over the years, but I never have. I certainly am not going to buy one at jacked up prices because I am scared. Not all the stores are jacking up the prices. I ran across 2 basic models yesterday for $699 each

rather have me a 7400 or 7600 with a few 10 rounds clips Yep. A trusty Rem 760 in .308 with a few 10 round mags will work just fine. I've had the AR bug for a while, but never bought one because laying out that cash just isn't on the top of my priority list. If I ever get the list whittled down, then I'll get one. First purchase on my list will be a Ruger 10/22 or either the Ruger SR22 rifle which is the 10/22 components inside of an AR style body.

I bought some Ruger 25 round clips for my 10/22 - I bet these will be outlawed too and they are still easy to find.

Why does an individual have to prove "need" to another individual OR the guvment that he "needs" something? I bet I can safely say that everybody on here has a vehicle that will go 75+mph. Why do you need to go so fast? PROVE to me why you "need" to go so damn fast. Why not just go 30mph and have your vehicle restricted to that maximum speed? Surely it would be safer for everybody to go slower. Just no "need" for all that speed.

I agree! I say ban all the Farraris and Lamborghinis! No need for these rich people to drive such intimidating cars on the highway! They scare me and you never know when they might kill someone! A VW Beetle is all we need!

I carried one for 6 years of my life ...even got an arcom medal for how fast i could take it apart blindfolded. And i promise there is nothing that would make me go purchase one....besides my neighbor called me over to see his new AR and he set a bucket at about 30 yards and shot it about 5 times....so i pulled out the old mossberg 835 from behind my seat loaded with # 4 and shot the bucket from the same spot and blew the bucket in half....he was talking about getting a shotgun when i left

When the legislation or executive order comes up you can bet the media will have a bunch of so called sportsman saying the same thing many here are saying. "nobody really needs these type weapons" they really aren't serving any purpose that other guns can't". The antis love pointing to those types as proof for their position.

I don't care about want or need. I have a lot of stuff I don't need. I just don't want one enough to buy one. I just always hate it when people are running to buy something out of fear of not having it. Want, need. I think a lot of these people don't want or need it, but they think that they do or they don't want to be the only one of their friends without one.

I don't own one and never really cared to shoot one even though my father owns one, but with the direction things are taking I wouldn't mind having one. I won't buy one because I have too many other things I'd like to have but it definitely is possible we may be seeing our last chance to have the choice.

Yep, one of the last thing I wanted to buy was an AR, but I got one over a year ago. Will I ever use it?--I hope not. Do I have better weapons for self defense on an individual basis?--Yes. I don't reload so is there a better source/price for heavy loads?--No. Would a 30 round clip be important?--Yes, I can see instances where it could come in very handy. JMO

why arent semi auto shot guns in question? Id prefer that to a semi auto rifle in close range combat any day.
They have been mentioned. If the Feinstein legislation coming in January Is just being used as a smoke screen to throw the dogs off the trail of the Executive Order coming in mid January. We need one of the aldeer detectives or general snoops to see if you can dig up any dirt on an Executive Order to be handed down mid January by Hussein Obama. Interested to see how reliable the info I was told today is.

Troy, like you I have no use for an AR myself. I have nothing against anyone owning one and all the 30 round mags they want but I don't see that I'd ever need one.
