I don't understand the whole AR gotta-get-one craze. SHTF I'd rather have a fairly accurate scoped 243/270 bolt gun. Like most of Al deer hunters already have. One dosen't need 30/60/90 rounds of ammo to shoot someone, or two or three, and a good bolt gun will handle that very nicely.

Even 5-10 looters will run after ya shoot the first one er two. I'd bet a good shot with a bolt gun would get more of them that 90% of folks with an AR...

Ain't saying I wouldn't like to have a M1-A but I don't think it is necessary to yer survival......

Doesn't have anything to do with what someone's going to use in a SHTF scenario, it's about not going to be able to buy one for your collection most likely in the future.

I'd rather have option D....all of the above. "I've got too much firepower"....said nobody....ever.

When I'm being shot at, I want all of the rounds possible. Ducking and shooting don't add up to much accuracy. (IMO) Long range and protected by cover, I wouldn't want anything but my .270. The close range crap is what bothers me. People sorrounding me or at least a distance apart where I have to be able to shoot and move quickly is the concern.

most folks seem to be buying a good bit of ammo and extra mags....not collectors it seems

just don't see the need for that kind of firepower....


I'm not opposed to anyone and everyone owning one, er , three. Just don't see the real advantage.

Might have to turn loose my 8 year old throwing down a spray of bullets. Never know what all you might need to employ if things get crazy.

I am with you Fred. All these people are buying out of fear. IF they had wanted one before, why not buy it. There can not be that many people that we just waiting until later to buy them.

I used to own an AR. I enjoyed shooting it. But, I sold it because it was not what I wanted. I have thought of getting another one over the years, but I never have. I certainly am not going to buy one at jacked up prices because I am scared.

why arent semi auto shot guns in question? Id prefer that to a semi auto rifle in close range combat any day.

I think it's just the fear of not being able to buy it later. In my case that's it. I actually bough a lot of ammo the day after the kenyan got elected the first time.

Doekiller, do you buy insurance? If you do, do you buy it because you are scared or for protection from loss?

I've never wanted one either. The ones I picked up didn't pass the "feels good in my hands" test.I'd rather have a light semi auto shotgun and buckshot but that's just me.
Of course I don't have any problem with yall having them if you want.

Threatened to buy an AR several times but my ruger 10/22 with hp will have to do. Plus if I have to pick up and run I can carry twice as many bullets for the same weight.

They have been mentioned. If the Feinstein legislation coming in January is similar to the Klintonstan era's, semi-auto shotguns for hunting and sporting competition (trap, etc.) would be OK.

But when someone walks in with a semi-auto shotgun and multi-round magazine to create an 'event' the antis will scream about banning them.

Shotguns were used in Columbine and Aurora. Hand guns were used in Aurora, Va Tech, Ft Hood, Columbine, etc.

They aren't pushing as hard on them because they know the public will push back harder. They want to start with the "scary" looking guns to get the door opened. Rest assured, as soon as the "assault weapons" goes through, the media will start with the, "real problem is hand guns and shotguns". This is just the start.

Protection from loss. There is very little in this world that I am scared of. Things worry me, but worry is not fear.

If it really hits the fan, an AR can be obtained from some goob who has no idea which end goes bang. Y'all should see some of the idiots at the gun stored today.
